Wordsmith

A Poem with Commentary

Words are escaping
through cracks
in my brain.
Nouns, verbs, adjectives
and those pesky adverbs.
The names of people
I’ve known for years
are sneaking out
of my brain
and leaving me
speechless, lost and
embarrassed. I am
a wordsmith, a maker
of words from
the fabric of our lives.
A poet who hammers
poems into existence.
A storyteller who shapes
worlds with words and
dreams and memories.
